GROWTH SEPARATE FROM PARENT

This category should be used when issues of raising a child apart from one's parents are the primary focus of clinical attention, or when segregation affects the course, outcome, or treatment of a mental illness or health condition. The child may be in government care, may be cared for by a relative, or may be given to a family member for care. The child may be living in a relative's home or with friends without legal justification. Issues related to children living in orphanages are also covered.
